428 pages
What better way to celebrate a holiday than to read a themed book? (At least for a bookworm) At Christmas I read from CSS: The Magic of Christmas and when Canada Day approaches, I read from CSS: O Canada.
Lots of different types of stories in these chapter headers:
- Proud to Be Canadian
- Ice Time
- Slice of Life
- The Cultural Mosaic
- Wilderness and Wildlife
- Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
- Holidays and Traditions
- Summer Memories
- Life Lessons
- Winter Wonderland
- Inspiring Canadians
- That Famous Canadian Hospitality
Also have to love the You Might Be Canadian If… list on pg 6. Many are true for me like “You have at least two boxes of Kraft Dinner in your pantry.” and “You know what a Double Double is and you also know how to Roll Up the Rim to Win.” Others may be true for many Canadians but not me such as “You can read all the French on the back of any cereal box” or “You know all the words to ‘The Hockey Song’ by Stompin’ Tom Connors”
I don’t know about anyone else but when I read a book with stories compiled by Canadians I look for ones written in my home town and then scrutinize the name to see if I know them! I suppose this is more likely in smaller towns than say Toronto or Ottawa.
