Summary: When Felix Carelessly tosses his trash into the sea, he thinks nothing of it. That is, until he is warned about the dire consequences!
But Felix doesn’t listen, and the sea disappears! Can one boy undo the damage and restore the sea before it’s too late?
When the Sea Left is a powerful, visually rich picture book that teaches kids the impact of their actions—and the hope that even one small person can make a big difference. Perfect for classroom discussions about taking care of the environment and bedtime inspiration.
When The Sea Left
This is a picture book but it has an important message of not polluting our waters. While the story is technically fiction I consider picture books with nonfiction type messages to count for this blog.
The story is cute and has the little boy learning an important lesson after littering in the water too many times. In the story a mound of sea bed threatens to take the sea away if he doesn’t stop littering. Of course this doesn’t happen in real life but the parent reading the book can help their child understand that the consequences shown are still possible if the sea becomes unusable because of pollution.
The illustrations are a cartoony style. Also at the end of the book there is information on ocean/sea pollution and a search and find type game. You search the rest of the book for the specific sea animals.
