Whispers of the Mind
I love reading medical memoirs because although I’ve never went to school to be a doctor I’ve always been very interested in medical things such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and everything that goes with the medical profession.
This book’s cover is understated. I think the cover shows it to be an okay book but it’s amazing. Very captivating and very sad at times too. You will FEEL when you read this book.
I love the perspective of a woman neurologist and she brings us through from working to become a neurologist to when she actually is a neurologist. So the first half of the book is about medical school and her medical internship. During this section I was kind of eager to get past this to the neurology specific stories but as I kept reading I realized these stories were important too and very interesting.
Also many of her stories take place before the 2000s and so you get to see how neurology has changed.
